beginning ceramics
Ive been drawing for a majority of my life. Ever since 3rd grade ive always been inspired to create, whether it’s 2D, 3D or digital. With this class, I want o expand what I already know with 2D into a 3D class.

Play WIth clay 1/18/19
With this piece I wanted to express my love for monsters and fantasy. I wanted to somehow incorporate what I know with 2D design on a 3D piece.

challange: Textured bowl
be my first major challenge project I found it to be very fun to experiment with the different tools. Carving into the clay in its greenware stage proved to be very effective! However, I would like to work on my glazing skills more.
For this challenge I found the coil technique very useful and having a great aesthetic.

box challange
I found this Challenge piece to be very fun! I didn’t want to do a generic box but I also wanted it to be functionable. So I created a statue like pencil holder based off of one of my favorite games. Not only did it represent me with my love for video games but it shows how much I love art as well. However, I must add that I wanted the mouth to be retractable so I could put the pencil shavings inside the box, but that did not work in the end.
Project #1: Culture

finished piece
When it came to this project, I found that planning was essential. If I were to make this mask it would have to fit an individual wall also being comfortable to wear. This means that I would have to be careful when sculpting it; as to not create dents that could scratch the wearer. Overall I feel that this was very fun to create and came out amazing!

When it came to this project, I found myself having to rethink many design choices. Either with materials or structure. In order to make this a wearable mask, I had to keep in mind a weight limit. Although the mask would be heavy, it couldn’t be heavy enough to hurt someone’s head or neck. With this in mind I designed it to be hollow on the inside. A,thought there are still things I would like to find, I feel that this was one of the most exciting projects I’ve work on all year!
